ALL ABOUT DELTA-8
WHAT IS DELTA-8-THC?
If you’re unfamiliar with delta-8 THC, it’s a legal cannabinoid extracted from hemp. Even though it causes a high, like the THC in the name might suggest, it doesn’t have the same intensity that delta-9 THC does. The delta-9 THC is the THC that’s most abundant in marijuana strains, and in high percentages appears to cause negative symptoms in some individuals. For most individuals, delta-8 THC is a pleasant surprise. Most feel a calm feeling while still able to keep track of your bearings. Most do not feel out of control, or couch-locked, or even “high” in the way that Delta-9 can make you feel. Delta-8 can make you feel stimulated — like you could go do something very productive and feel accomplished!
WHAT DO DELTA-8 THC PRODUCTS TASTE LIKE?
We hope you will be impressed – delta-8 products have not specific flavors with no hemp aftertaste. They are made in a way that you get the best of the natural flavors in the products. Quite frankly, they are delicious!
HOW MUCH DO YOU TAKE?
Avila Herbals Tincture are 1000 mg of CBD and 1000 mg of delta-8-THC. This will give you the best of both cannabinoids – and taking ½ ml per serving is a good volume to get started with.
Avila Herbals Gummies are 5 mg of CBD and 10 mg of delta-8-THC. This will give you the best of both cannabinoids. For most people, 20 mg of delta-8 is plenty. If you’re new to cannabis products or you’ve never tried delta-8 before, one gummy per serving is perfect.
HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS LAST?
Generally, the effects of delta-8 start within 30 minutes of taking the product and can last up to 4 hours. Most individuals notice the ability to focus and relax as time progresses after taking the product.
CAN YOU TAKE TOO MUCH?
Well, with everything, moderation is the key. If you take too much, you may experience some side effects, including dry mouth, dry eyes, grogginess, ability to drive, a failed drug test (drug tests look for all versions of THC), you may also experience being too happy, and in rare cases anxiety (delta-8 is known for anti-anxiety properties, but large doses can make people feel anxious).
IS DELTA-8 LEGAL?
Well, here’s the thing: technically, it is, at least federally. This is because of the Farm Bill of 2018, which declassified hemp as an illicit substance. Before then, cannabis was outlawed federally, meaning that all forms of cannabis, whether they be derived from hemp or marijuana, were illegal to buy, sell, possess, and consume. But the Farm Bill came to be, and the rest is history. Thanks to the Farm Bill, we can legally purchase and use hemp in all 50 states. This means that we can consume any form of hemp that we want to, including extracts and concentrates of its individual compounds. CBD is a great example. CBD is cannabidiol, the dominant hemp compound. It can be taken in many forms, along with other compounds or all on its own, in the form of isolates which provide highly concentrated doses of pure CBD rather than the full plant’s chemical composition. Federally, delta 8 is legal because it comes from hemp. The reason why hemp is legal is because it contains no more than 0.3 percent THC total, which makes it technically a non-psychoactive substance. However, as you know, states can override federal law, and so while delta 8 may be legal federally, that doesn’t mean that it’s legal in all 50 states. Some states have criminalized delta 8, and those include: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Rhode Island, and Utah. In all other states, it is legal, but bear in mind that this is subject to change if state legislators determine that it should be classified as a controlled substance. Therefore, before taking delta 8, you should always check with state laws, as laws regarding cannabis are prone to sudden change.
